I downloaded the latest PC suite for my W890i and ran it. When it comes to installing drivers it takes forever and the progress bar stays the same. It hasn t frozen it just the progress bar doesn t move. I am on Vista so does the software support Vista. Is there a good alternative to SE PC suite.

I bought new sony ericsson W580i I installed a PC Suite 4.010.00 on my laptop running with WINDOWS 7 Operating system Build 7000.

I have some SMSes archived using Sony Ericsson PC Suite 4, and now I need to restore the SMSes to my k660i.

I couldn t do it in PC Suite, so I ve downloaded MyPhoneExplorer should have used it from the start., but PC Suite s archive files don t seem to be readable by MPE.

Is there any way to put my SMSes back onto my phone with the correct recipient, sender, etc.

After installing PC Suite when first connecting my C5.00 my PC win7 64 bit ultimate consistently fails to load the drivers for:

After installing the latest version of PC suite 7.1 on my PC, the application doesn t recognize when my phone is connected in PC suite connection mode, although when it is connected in USB mass storage mode the windows recognize it. The message that appears on the screen is :

I have Sony Vaio VGN-UX280P and I ve been having problems downloading and installing drivers. Some of the drivers work, some of them don t. It s a micro PC and has 2 built in cameras. I tried installing and reinstalling drivers. The one in the back that would make the computer work as a camera to point at someone and be able to take a picture with the capture button. I was installing Sony Ericsson PC Suite on my p.c, and I had my W850i connected to the p.c at the time. Pc Suite told me to disconnect any sony phones from the computer before continuing. I have successfully installed my 5800 in Windows XP with the drivers. inf file from the Nokia website. However it does not work in Windows Vista latest service packs etc installed. However when I plug the usb cable in and go through the connecting proceedure it get rights the way to the end and then a grey box appears with an error message, send error report, don t send error report and which ever one you click shuts down the pc suite and you have to go through it all again for the same error report at the end.

I used PC Suite latest version with a bluetooth connection between a Nokia 6310i and a Compaq nx8220 laptop computer. No problem at all. Than I bought a Nokia 6303 Classic and tried to connect to the laptop. The PC Suite software does not recognize the 6303. The same problem with OVI Suite, which works with the 6310i. I m using N95 and have installed the latest PC Suite. Previously I used Windows Vista with my Sony Vaio Laptop without any issues. However Sony sent me some Windows 7 Upgrade Discs and of course I upgraded without looking into issues as I was sure that Nokia Software would be 7 Compatible, guessing i was wrong. Neither of the 2 applications can connect with my Phone since upgrading to Windows 7.

Both just sit there on the Connectivity Screen and eventually inform me that they cannot connect to the device or no device present. Inside my Device Manager i have several errors which are obviously causing my error. The following Names are displayed as NOT INSTALLED.

I ve removed and re-installed both Ovi Suite and PC Suite and still the drivers dont appear. I ve tried to remove and reinstall the devices via Device Manager, but Windows still reports the devices as NO Drivers. Where can i get these drivers from so PC Suite / Ovi can connect to my Device. Nokia Ovi Player works and transfers music with no problems, so the Cable is fine

today I read mobile-review.com and gsmarena.com and both say the w890i walkman phone speaker ARE POOR.

Impressions Despite having 40-chord polyphony onboard, the W890i breaks no new grounds in the way MP3 tunes sound, as compared to other Sony Ericsson branded devices. The overall volume of this phone is pretty average, although occasionally you might miss calls while on a busy street. Honestly, the W890i just doesn t deliver in terms of volume level at times, but we didn t expect it even to have this in the first place. Playing many mp3 tracks full-out, the loudspeaker starts creaking and crackling a bit, which is a tradeoff for the W890i being a svelte device. The vibrating alert is below average strength-wise, meaning that you might not feel it when the phone is in your outerwear. Thankfully, we never experienced any trouble with the handset s reception quality. The W890i has a lot of things going for it updated platform, HSDPA and EDGE connectivity, lightning fast interface and speedy3D applications. More importantly, not only does it trump its predecessor on these fronts, it also holds the upper hand against other A200-powered solutions that debuted earlier.

The handset is set to hit the shelves early in May at 400 Euro. Judging from the sales of the Sony Ericsson W880i, Nokia 6500 Classic, this price tag is quite adequate, so consumers will happily go for it. You can consider it as the good old W880i with its letdowns addressed, or as the W880i s successor, or a rival to the Nokia 6500. Regardless of what side you take, the W890i is a decent phone that doesn t disappoint on all fronts. It will do a great job as a secondary handset, especially if you need no bells and whistles, but rather a nice looking and well-designed gadget.

All the latest Sony Ericsson phones we ve tested offer very good voice quality for both parties and W890 is no exception. The HSDPA enabled quad-band handset offers good signal reception but, surprisingly, ringing is neither loud nor balanced enough. The loudspeaker seems to do poorly at trebles and basses, too. The results of the loudspeaker test differ a bit from our subjective impression. The test ranked the W890 within the Very Good margin. really i was going to buy it but now i am not because of its low speaker performance. dont be fooled by the design its the specification that count. Nokia :: 5800 USB Connection Problems

I am having some problems connecting my 5800 with my computer via USB. I have the Ovi suite and Nokia PC suite installed on my computer. The computer is running windows 7.

I can establish a connection over Bluetooth, but when try to connect over the USB the phone just wont be found. Windows 7 installed the drivers for the phone, the USB connection says that the phone is in PC suite mode and I can access the phones memory though windows explorer. The only way Ovi or PC suite will recognise my phone is if I put it into mass storage mode, but when I do this they connect and then 5 seconds or so later the phone sets itself back to PC suite mode and the connection is lost.

The phone is less than a week old, all the software I am using is up to date and the cable is an official Nokia cable.Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a new laptop, with Vista Home Premium, with all available updates. I have installed PC Suite 6.83.14.1 for use with my N80.Every time I boot I get a message saying Windows needs to install driver software for your Bluetooth Peripheral Device

There are options to load the drive from a place where I know it is I don t, let Windows find a solution up till now it couldn t or ignore, which is what I have done.I guess because of this I can t access the N80 as a modem, or Com port.Today I bothered to search again, and Windows advised me to install the latest version of PC Suite.

I am hyper-allergic to updating PC Suite, having lost many hours trying to do so, with repeated problems due to PC Suite leaving Suite droppings all over the place, and the supposed cleaner being unable to find them all. I have found that the best way to update PC Suite is to buy a new computer and install it fresh.

My phone does not load, and gets stuck at the Sony Ericsson loading screen. Have tried to repair my phone using PC Suite, however my phone is not detected at all by 3 different computers, and is preventing me from repairing. I am using a Nokia 3100 which is a very old model, but it is functioning well. Recently I bought a CA-42 cable to connect it to PC, because I think I need to make data back up for it. However, it doesn t work.I have installed the latest Nokia PC Suite version 7.1.40 and my OS is Window XP SP3.When I connect the 3100 with the CA-42 cable to the PC,

- it shows that Found new hardware and asks me to install the drivers;

- I choose install automatically but it never find the drivers;

- then it alerts that Some problem occurred while installing the new HW, so that it may not work properly. Afterwards it turns out that Nokia PC Suite cannot find my phone.

Nokia :: 5800 Usb Modem Driver windows Xp Doesn t Work

I got myself a 5800 and installed the latest version of PC Suite 7.1.26.1 and it finds the phone and what not. What doesn t work thou is the usb modem. In the device manager windows states that Nokia 5800 XpressMusic USB Modem and CDC Comms Interface isn t installed properly. When I manually try to install them it fails complaining about an error in the INI-file.

I did see a INI-file in the Software and driver section for my phone but that did nothing. I also tried uninstalling the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver integrated in PC Suite and installed the stand alone version, with the same result as above. So how do I get windows to install the modem driver for my phone.

I have never been able to use PC Suite, although all the installations go through without a problem, Windows installs the USB drivers without error and the phone can be seen as a connected device when choosing the basic connection modes. The scanner/photo mode works also. But I do wish to use PC Suite for calendar synchroniZation.

The Sony Ericsson W890i is one of the latest additions to the Walkman phone family. As the successor to the Sony Ericsson W880i, will it be just another thin phone with titchy keys or is this possibly one of the best Walkman phones yet.

Although similar to the W880i, the W890i has a much better design. It s thicker in size than its predecessor but still markedly thinner than most other phones. Because of its metal casing, it s also a tougher handset, but it s the overall quality feel of it that had us excited. Unlike many thin phones, the W890i is solid.

You don t feel like you have to protect it with your life and it can definitely take a few tumbles.

Sony Ericsson also has put much more thought into the user experience with the W890i, adding a larger screen that makes viewing pictures and Web pages on the phone much more enjoyable. The navigation keys follow a much better specification -- they re easier to press and the keys on the keypad are larger and have a better layout. One of the reasons we didn t give the W880i higher marks was due to its tiny rice-grain-like keys, but we re happy to report that the W890i instead features larger, albeit still small keys that are easy to press unless you have massive thumbs.

Our only issue with the W890i s design is the proprietary headphone jack that s on the left side of the phone, which aside from making the W890i awkward to pull out of your pocket when headphones are plugged in, it also means you can t plug standard 3.5mm headphones straight into the handset without an adaptor.

We were impressed by the W880i s features, so we were keen to see what Sony Ericsson could cram into the W890i. As a Walkman phone, its music features are very similar to the W880i s but with a few added extras. Uploading music is easy using the provided Media Manager software that lets you drag and drop music straight on to the phone using a simple software interface. Using Media Manager, you can categorise individual tracks by mood in the same way as you can on the Sony Ericsson W960i.

Once uploaded, you can create playlists, adjust the equaliser and control your music using the four-way navigation key that doubles up as individual play, pause, forward and rewind music keys. The pre-installed Walkman Player 3.0 app is intuitive and neither under-featured nor packed with too many frills.

It might look like tiny, but the W890i s keypad is a massive improvement on the W880i s

As we mentioned, you can listen to music using the provided headphones or by plugging your own pair in via the 3.5mm adaptor. If you re too cool for wires, you can use a pair of Bluetooth stereo headphones, but keep in mind using Bluetooth drains more battery power.

One of our pet peeves about the W880i was that its 2-megapixel camera wasn t fantastic. We re glad to see a better, 3.2-megapixel snapper on the W890i. Sadly, this upgraded camera still doesn t have a flash or LED photo light, so shots in low light don t come out well.

Still, what does work and is one of the most compelling reasons to buy the W890i is HSDPA 3.5G. Unlike the W880i that only had 3G, the W890i can surf the Web at a much faster speed than on EDGE or 3G-only phones.

Having downloaded an array of apps, including Google Maps for mobiles and Opera Mini 4, we were doing our Internet thing in no time at all. Our only word of advice is to keep an eye out on what data charges you re on. We recommend that if you love the Internet then go for a flat-rate data tariff.

Audio during calls is loud and clear without any noticeable distortions or muffling during calls. You re not going to get great sound quality from the loudspeaker when using it to listen to music, but it s alright. We re pleased to report that audio quality from the MP3 player using the provided headphones is good enough to replace your standalone music device, which is arguably the main selling point of a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone.

Its camera, however, isn t substantial enough to replace your dedicated snapper. Without a flash or LED photo light, your best bet would be to stick to daylight pictures. There s not an autofocus option either so close-up shots aren t clear.

The battery life is good, lasting for over two days with moderate to high use before needing recharge. Obviously, you ll use up more battery power if you use HSDPA and have a pair of stereo Bluetooth headphones connected to it on a regular basis.

The Sony Ericsson W890i will go down in the mobile phone history books as one of Sony Ericsson s best handsets ever. The combination of solid features with a solid, slim casing works a real treat.

Certainly, the W890i has its flaws -- the camera isn t perfect and could certainly do with a flash, and it would be good if the phone had Wi-Fi. For what it is, though, the handset performs really well. If you re after a more business-centric phone then there s the similarly featured Nokia E51. As Walkman phones go, we dare say this is the best one yet.
